Acton MA Community
BackgroundEstablished July 3, 1735, the Town of Acton has retained much of its rural New England character and is proud of its colonial history, as evidenced by the traditional town center and green, fine examples of historic architecture and landmarks, stone walls and tree-lined country roads. Acton offers a sense of community and provides services to its residents and businesses, including an active Town Meeting form of government, top-notch libraries, a nationally accredited police department, a full-time fire department, and local and regional school systems that are ranked among the top in the state.
The town of Acton is conveniently located with easy access to Routes 2 and 495 and has its own Boston Bound commuter rail which is within a mile or so of Sarah Jane Court. Sarah Jane Court is located on the walking path to The Acton Boxborough school campus and is also conveniently located within walking distance to a wide range of many restaurants, retail stores and services, as well as acres of conservation trails at The Acton Arboretum and The Children’s discovery Museum. NARA Park, (North Acton Recreation Area), a 40 acre town owned recreational area, is within a few miles of Sarah Jane Court. The park offers many amenities including a lifeguarded beach, an outdoor amphitheatre for summer concerts, year round recreational programs, athletic fields, playgrounds, jogging trails, fishing, paddle boats and many memorable Acton sponsored family events. Nashoba Ski Valley is also located within a 10 minute drive of Sarah Jane Court and offers ski programs as well as summer recreational programs for children and families of all ages.
Location
Eastern Massachusetts, bordered by Carlisle and Concord on the east, Westford and Littleton on the north, Sudbury on the south, Maynard and Stow on the 14 miles south of Lowell, 29 miles northeast of Worcester, and 203 miles from southwest, and Boxborough on the west. Acton is 25 miles northwest of Boston, New York City.
Transportation
Acton is situated in the Greater Boston Area, which has excellent rail, air, and highway facilities. State Route 128 and Interstate Route 495 divide the region into inner and outer zones, which are connected by numerous "spokes" providing direct access to the airport, port, and intermodal facilities of Boston (MBTA)
